Carmaker warranty extensions on file with NHTSA: codebook, version 1.0 (2026-11-07) File: warranty-extensions-2026.csv. Comma-separated, UTF-8, one row per coverage program, first line = column names. WHAT COUNTS AS ONE PROGRAM One row is one coverage decision by the carmaker. Supplements, revisions and reissues of a bulletin, and every bulletin, letter or dealer message announced together as one extension (one announcement or one campaign code), are the same program and share one row. All of their documents are listed in source_docs, and a second set of terms inside the program goes in the tier columns. Page numbers in every *_source_page column are PDF page numbers (the Nth page of the file, counted from 1), not the numbers printed on the page. STATUS RULE status is worked out for the status_as_of date, from the program's own documents: - A printed end date decides alone: once it has passed, the status is ended. - Otherwise the term runs per car. Each car is assumed in service by 31 December of its model year + 1. The program's newest model year sets the status: when its term (in years) from that date has passed, the term has run out even for the newest cars and the status is may have ended. Until then it is active. - Mileage limits are ignored. They end coverage per car, so an active program may already be over for a high-mileage car. - A lifetime term, and a term added to a base warranty the documents do not print, stay active. - Tiers: the status follows the program's main terms. A second set of terms in tier_note (another group of cars, a window for cars already past the main limit, a grace period) keeps its own printed dates, and they do not change the status. - A program whose documents name no model years is not computable. COLUMNS record_id: Stable id of the row: make plus the base program number, with no supplement or revision mark (for example ford-13n02).
