The electrical system leads the 2011 Ford Edge record at 38%, with braking system next at 14%. Of the electrical system reports that give a mileage, half came before 55,000 miles. The costliest part on our cost list is the brake master cylinder, $37 to $141 for the part alone.
It's a count of reports, not a failure rate. Use it to decide what to inspect before buying, not to grade the car.
The electrical complaints lead, and most of them describe the doors and locks, with the same door and latch theme running through the lighting and body complaints. Ford recalled certain 2011 Edges for a body control module that may short and for liftgate locking settings.

The door ajar light stays on even when I slam the drivers door again. The mechanic said that corrosion gets inside the door lock so he sprayed it. Just 2 days later the warning light came on again. Very disappointed in Ford.

Drivers door ajar light stays on. The door is closed. It won't lock the doors when you are driving. At night this is a pain since the dome lights stay on for awhile. Tried wd40 and nothing. Ford needs to address this since there are many many complaints about this.

Left rear door latch replaced under extended warranty with $100.00 deductible. Battery was only 2 years old and battery was replaced under battery warranty. All work done at Ford dealer.

Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor before stopping. This is the second time the brakes have failed in traffic. Brake master cylinder replaced at 58k, brake booster replaced at 32k. Current mileage is 65k. Dealership unable to find problem.
While drive 45 miles per hour ran over a raised steel cover in road way the bump caused brake pedal to go to floor, this has occurred before, the brake comes back eventually. It had a brake booster replaced by recall 2015. This has happened twice since then. No action by Ford.
Brake failure with pedal going all the way to the floor and vehicle would not stop. Ford is aware of the problem and will not warranty the repair of the hydraulic control unit (hcu) and cost $1,000 to replace. Why hasn't the NHTSA done something?

Ford edge door ajar latch issue indicator light stays on while door is closed dome light remains on inability to lock the vehicle faulty latch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rlmgeehq38
I bought this car 2015 in the late winter. From the time I bought it the drivers door sensor would say its ajar. According to the dealer it would be about $1000 to fix. Tonight my auto door unlock doesn't work and neither does the key unlock the door. I'm stranded 30 miles from home. This is totally unacceptable. I will be letting anyone who asks to be extremely cautious about any Ford products.

Takata recall the door ajar message displays on my 2011 Ford edge vehicle constantly and the door is shut. The lights stay illuminated because of the door ajar sensor not working properly. Also I can not lock my doors when I am inside the vehicle when the engine is on which is unsafe in my opinion. I have seen that many people have stated this has happened to their Ford as well, but a recall has not been issued.
Since I purchase 2011 Ford edge from my dealer in babylon ny . I have issues with electrical, loss of power during winter, and the worse has been the brakes, master cylinder to brakes keep failing and I never no even I change my brakes when they can fail . I am scared of driving this unsafe vehicle. My dealer does not respond to my vehicle.
Door ajar light stays on, even when the door is shut. Will not allow automatic door locks to latch. This is a danger to children in the back seat. Also, wears out the life of the battery. Interior light stay on for 3 min after driving, this makes it a hazard to see when driving.
Driver side door ajar light stays on even when the door is completely shut. Interior lights stay on while the door ajar light is on. Have already had to replace the battery on 2011 Ford edge.

While driving the car the car 'stalled' meaning I had no ability to accelerate the car, all other items worked ok, an amber wrench light came on, I pulled over, restarted the car and it worked fine. It happened again 3 days later approx the same speed. Seeming this has been an issue among other Ford edge cars.
Throttle body suspected: 2011 Ford 3.5l edge decelerating and stalling at random. Vehicle stranded in middle of roadway until pushed to side of the road. Turning vehicle off then back on corrects issue until the next random event. This has happened 4 times with this vehicle.
