+115% vs 2012, most of any Edge year
851 complaints, 35% of the total
half of the electrical system reports that give a mileage came before this
24 mention an injury, 7 a fire
The electrical system leads the 2013 Ford Edge record at 35%, with braking system next at 22%. Of the electrical system reports that give a mileage, half came before 45,000 miles. The costliest part on our cost list is the front door latch and lock actuator, $28 to $124 for the part alone.
It's a count of reports, not a failure rate. Use it to decide what to inspect before buying, not to grade the car.
One fault spreads across four systems here: a door ajar warning that stays on with every door shut, which also keeps the doors from locking.

Door ajar sensor indicates door is ajar when it clearly is not. This makes locking the doors impossible and causes the interior dome lights to illuminate. Car is less than 2 years old. Apparently, this is a problem with the switch assembly across numerous Ford vehicles.
I have a 2013 Ford edge se with driver door issue of not locking even if door is shut. Door chime comes on letting me know that the door is not shut even though it is. If the door is not registering with the module saying it is shut what impact with this have on the air bags going off when needed.

Bought this edge and in less than a month later the "door ajar" light starting coming on. Almost a year later and still nothing has worked in fixing it. Dealer wants $400 to fix something that should be recalled by Ford. Major safety hazard as you cannot lock the doors when you have this error.
Driver door ajar sensor failing. Even though the driver door is fully closed and locked, the dash reports the door is ajar. Causes dome lights to stay on, chimes to sound, and drains battery. Cleaning and oiling with silicon spray helps some, but is a temporary fix at best. Ford dealer wants over $600 to replace latch assembly.
2013 Ford edge driver door sensor remains ajar, I close the door more than 7 times for the inside light to turn off. While driving the sensor will turn on and doors will not lock.
My 2013 Ford edge door latch incorrectly reports that the door is open when it is not. This turns the interior lights on and drains the battery, also will not let you turn on the alarm or lock the doors from the inside. Constantly chimes and tell you to put in park to shut door.

Usually starts around 45,000 miles. Half of owners reported it between 37,000 and 60,000.

Only had a few months and its not looking good
After 30,000 miles we took our 2013 Ford edge for service and for $800 they changed oil, rotated tires, etc. They also noticed that our brakes and rotors had to be replaced due to wear and rust. This cost an additional $700. We have driven numerous vehicles and kept them to 100,000 miles and have never had this concern.

My brake booster failed. It had a hissing sound when the pedal was depressed, and the brakes were extremely difficult to actuate when driving under any conditions. I know there was a similar recall on the Ford edge but they tell me that mine is not affected or covered. I just paid to have it replaced at 23,126 miles.
Brake booster failed. Ford issued a letter covering this defect earlier, but refused to repair or pay for repair. Situation was dangerous, and I had it repaired for $591.05. Please help me obtain reimbursement. Brakes would loose power.
Brake booster failure at 88000 miles. Abrubt onset of hard brake pedal with slow braking response. Very hard pressure application would eventually stop car. Apparent recall on same part but Ford is not covering repair cost.
Brake pedal became very hard to depress. Required extra pressure and increased braking distance. Was told by Ford dealership. It is a known problem. There was nothing I could do to cause it or prevent it. They replaced the brake booster for $900.00

Door ajar warning system fails repeatedly causing auto door locks to unlock all doors repeatedly - this is apparently a problem with Ford edge since 2006 or before - door locking system failure represents a real consumer hazard.

Door ajar light on dash always on when ignition key is inserted - doors securely latched - dome lights stay on, draining battery - doors won't lock for safety in motion - dealer trying to act like they never heard of it, although thousands mentioned online - vehicle has 30600 miles
Stationary 2013 Ford edge drivers door latch freezes and will not unlock. When I do get the door open from other side it won't close and latch. I have to repeatedly slam door hard to get it to latch. Ford garage in past lubricates the latch inside the door but it's a temporary fix. Dealing with this every year.
The driver side door says that it is ajar when it isnt. So annoying. The dealership said it will be 250 dollars to fix. Wtf? I have only had the car for 2 days.

Driver door ajar warning. Cannot lock doors, interior lights go on, warning chime sounds. Very dangerous especially at night with the interior lights on with doors unlocked. Dealer said no recall. When I accelerate to highway speed I get an exhaust smell inside the passenger compartment. I have been to my dealer 4 times and the problem continues. I believe that this is a health issue. I am uploading my service records for your perusal. This began in may 2016 and continues to the present (12/2017).
2013 Ford edge went into limp home mode. The accelerator pedal did not work. The car idled roughly and had normal a/c, brakes and steering. The car was going 55 mph on a crowded roadway.

My 2013 Ford edge randomly stalls doesn't matter if I'm turning going slow or straight and going fast. The wrench light will show up. I usually stop, shut it down and restart it. It's pretty frightening. I brought it to the repair shop and they said it might be the throttle bottle. Got that cleaned up which was to dirty and still stalling.
I was driving to work 6:30 am small incline and vehicle jerked and stopped ,I put it into park pushed the red ok button restarted the vehicle and drove straight to dealer. They said it was the throttle body and fixed it and changed the codes the throttle was out of range.
