The engine leads the 2014 Ford Escape record at 35%, with powertrain next at 22%. Of the engine reports that give a mileage, half came before 73,800 miles.
It's a count of reports, not a failure rate. Use it to decide what to inspect before buying, not to grade the car.
A 2017 recall covers 2014 Escapes with the 1.6-liter turbo engine, and many complaints describe coolant loss and overheating. The form has no engine field, so these counts can't be split by engine.

My 2014 Ford escape has a coolant leak. It has overheated at least 3 time without warning while driving on the highway. As a result my vehicle has sustained engine damage. There is a recall associated with the coolant system. I think Ford should replace/ repair the engine at no charge. They don't agree.
My son was driving my 2014 Ford escape on the street to I-25 when he thought he smelled smoke, then the engine failure flashed on the screen and the engine turned itself off. He was able to move the vehicle to a safe location then he popped the hood and saw flames so he shut the hood and called the fire department
Engine stalled during highway cruise(70 mph), lost all throttle response. Lighting, brake, steering worked fine. Coolant leakage was observed under the hood after parking. After the vehicle was towed to a Ford dealer, service people reported engine wirings were burned out due to fire.
My 2014 Ford is leaking engine coolant into my engine as well as oil. Which is causing my car to decrease in acceleration and has caused my car to stall on city street. I took my car to a Ford dealership and they made it worst by not recognizing that this was a problem concerning a recall on Ford and refuses to fix my car.

Vehicle began stalling when pulling out from a stop light. It then surged forward and stalled again. Managed to get it into a parking area and off the highway. Had to be towed to a dealership. Informed it needs a new transmission. Has less than 76000 miles.
There was a recall on the coolant system, to add a sensor due to Ford having cars blowing motors. After this recall was done, I had the car in the garage on and off for over a month, to find out that th coolant was leaking into the number 4 cylinder. So, they replace the motor, not sure about the heads. Then with in weeks trouble with the transmission.
I began losing coolant after taking my car in for coolant level sensor recall. I added water a few times before I decided not to drive it anymore. Couldn't figure out what was happening to my 5 year old less than 50,ooo mile car. Couldn't see any leak on the ground, decided to check oil, dip stick came back with water in the oil. Had it towed to Ford and my engine is blown, water all in th engine
1st issue is the car stalls randomly and warning states, 'service engine soon,' with no codes thrown. It has happened while moving and at a stop light. It will start back up after sitting for 5 minutes. Happens every couple months. The other issue is the transmission shutters between first and second gear and also between 2nd and 3rd gear. Dealership cannot find any issues for either issue.

Vehicle was started with remote start in driveway. Driver opened front passenger door . Place purse with key on seat and animal carrier with sick pet on front floor. When door was closed all 4 doors locked. Attempts to open the doors were made by 3 separate people with no success. Had to break back window to get in. Cost us $500 for the window. Ford customer service offered no assist with the repair.
While car is in motion our 2014 Ford escape stalls. We turn the key off, turn it back in and it will sometimes run for a bit before stalling again and sometimes stall immediately. Currently this has happened on city streets and parking lots. Once while turning. Others going straight. Luckily we have not had this happen on the interstate yet.

My warning light comes on and it says coolant is low. I add some coolant and the warning light goes off. In a month the same thing happens again. I add coolant again. I have to keep adding coolant approximately every month. There is no puddle under car and the heat temperature gauge stays the same in normal range. Also my daughterâs 2014 escape also does the same thing. Hers started doing it in november.

My steering wheel locked on the car on a trip and I couldn't drive the car. It was towed to koons Ford on monday july 9th and it was not even looked at by thursday when I came home from my trip. I have tried several times to call the service man and he won't return my calls.
Power steering goes out when you step on the acelator to merge into traffic and the vehicle attempts to stall taking off from stop sign. Also at 14000 miles I was told all four wheels needed alignment and I did not ask them to check alignment. I was told I get 30 plus mpg and have not been able to get over 24 mpg
