Short answer

The airbag system leads the 2012 Jeep Liberty record at 44%, with electrical system next at 30%. Of the airbag system reports that give a mileage, half came before 45,000 miles. The costliest part on our cost list is the front window regulator and motor, $52 to $155 for the part alone.

It's a count of reports, not a failure rate. Use it to decide what to inspect before buying, not to grade the car.

What we know beyond the file

Most airbag complaints describe an airbag light that stays on and a restraint control module the dealer calls faulty, with the owner asked to pay.

The airbag module gave our at 51000 miles. Reading the internet this is a common problem on jeep liberty 2012 models. Yet the jeep corp refuses to come clean on the matter. Collection well over $500 per customer for the module and installation at the dealerships

Air bag light came on and remains on. Took it to dealership and they charged 75.00 to tell me the orc module is faulty and not covered under warranty. This is a safety issue and should be recalled. There are hundreds of complaints on this issue. Also heated seats do not work. Clock stays 2 minutes behind.

Airbag light is on constantly. Dealer claims that the orc module is bad, but it is not covered by the recall (n38) that states that "jeep will ... Replace the orc module free of charge". The vehicle is less than 2 years old and has not been subjected to any abuse or damage.

We bought the 2012 jeep liberty last year and the airbag light came on randomly last week when I started it and hasn't turned off. I called the dealership and they said it would be $125.00 to diagnose the problem then more money to fix it. After researching online and not having the money to fix this issue I am afraid that the airbags might deploy while I am driving.

I have owned the vehicle for about 10 months three times in the last 3 months while accelerating the accelerator has become locked at full throttle. I pounded the floor frantically to get it to release or become unstuck while applying the brakes. Fortunately I haven't killed anyone or been killed myself. This is a serious issue I'm deeply concerned about even driving the vehicle. What can I do. *tt

While driving the esc off came on and the jeep driving strange . It is jerking when you are coming to a stop. Although you are driving in 2nd it is flashing 4wdl. The esc off is flashing. It is scary driving when this is happening . Also since I bought this car new in 2012 , I had to pay for the brake light to be change five times already. I think these jeeps have electrical problems.

The 2012 jeep liberty only has 56k thousand mile and transmission pan was leaking and rusting. How is this possible and why isn't this a safety hazard/product defect. There are numerous other complaints of this issue. The oil pan also showing signs of rusting as well. When the vehicle is hot and leaking fluid is this not a safety issue.
