+39% vs 2013, most of any 1500 year
487 complaints, 28% of the total
half of the steering reports that give a mileage came before this
56 mention an injury, 24 a fire
The steering leads the 2014 Ram 1500 record at 28%, with engine next at 17%. Of the steering reports that give a mileage, half came before 82,500 miles. The costliest part on our cost list is the steering rack, $1,680 for the part alone.
It's a count of reports, not a failure rate. Use it to decide what to inspect before buying, not to grade the car.
The steering leads the complaints, many of them a warning light and a loss of power assist, followed by engine and electrical complaints. Ram recalled certain early 2014 trucks for instrument cluster warning lights that may fail to light, and the 3.0L diesel is under recalls for its crankshaft sensor tone wheel and EGR cooler.
2014 Ram 1500 overview

Check vehicle to local dealer was told of no recalls for this year of vehicle but there is a recall for the 2015 ram 1500 with the same issue and same exact part. Cost to repair somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,400.
I have notifications of these various recalls and have tried to get these corrected or at least checked out at the dealership where I purchased my truck. First I was told that appointments were now required. Then I was advised that 1st come/1st served was now required and full schedules are usual. Now I received another notification.
